The importance of NGOs and community-based organizations in promoting health education, reducing stigma, and delivering health services has become increasingly evident in the last 10 years. In addition to building the capacity of these organizations to manage their programs, Initiatives provides technical support to improve the ability of small organizations to leverage resources and improve the sustainability and reach of their programs.
Part of this effort includes training NGOs and CBOs in proposal writing and submission, financial management, and monitoring of results. To assist NGOs and CBOs to access resources and to reinforce principles of solid grant writing and responsible financial and program management, we also developed rapid response small granting programs. These small grants meet the immediate needs of local organizations while strengthening their long-term viability.
