Carefully managed programs provide more sustainable, better quality health services. With the expansion of decentralization in the public health sector, management capacity needs to be strengthened at facility, district and provincial levels. NGOs, too, often need support to improve their management capabilities as the motivations that sparked the initiation of the NGO give in to the realities of sustaining programs and demonstrating results.
Initiatives provides technical assistance to improve management capacity in decentralized health systems and NGOs through program and financial management training, the development of tools and guidelines for program monitoring and planning, and the implementation of self-directed organizational performance reviews. For examples of some of our tools, see the Financial Management Course for District & Hospital Managers and the Performance Improvement Review.
