Support to the HIV/AIDS Response in Zambia (SHARe)

The USAID-funded SHARe project (2004–2010) represents a multi-sectoral approach to build long-lasting HIV/AIDS policy and coordination among a wide variety of Zambian entities.

As a subcontractor to JSI Research & Training Institute, Initiatives is working to increase the public-sector response to HIV/AIDS and to respond to community needs in relation to the pandemic. Our five resident staff members and short-term technical assistance provide leadership and technical expertise to strengthen coordination among government agencies for HIV/AIDS advocacy and service delivery; to build the capacity of provincial and district AIDS Task Forces to coordinate HIV/AIDS programs in the public, private and NGO sectors; and to improve the management capabilities of these same entities to implement and monitor small grants to HIV/AIDS institutions.
