Challenge TB Project: Democratic Republic of Congo
The Challenge TB Project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) assists the National TB Program (PNLT) to expand high-quality tuberculosis (TB) prevention, diagnosis, and treatment services, including TB-HIV and multidrug-resistant (MDR)-TB services. Building on work initiated under the preceding TB TO 2015 Project, Initiatives provides organizational capacity development support to local NGOs partnering with the Challenge TB Project. Our technical services are tailored to the organizationsí needs for capacity building in a variety of organizational management and project implementation areas.
Initiativesí work with local organizations through Organizational Capacity Assessments (OCAs) has already strengthened governance, financial management, and administration capabilities. Participating NGOs have established boards, developed strategic plans and finance and administrative policies, revised their organizational structure(s), and documented human resources management systems and monitoring and evaluation plans.
Under Challenge TB, Initiatives will be building on its earlier work with LNAC and CAD and expanding to support Le Fondation Femme Plus. Efforts will focus on sustainability and effectiveness through policy implementation and adherence, resource mobilization, community engagement, and enhancing board effectiveness.
