Quality Assurance Project (QAP)

The USAID-funded QAP (2002-2007) provided technical services to support the use of modern approaches for quality assurance in health care in developing and middle-income countries. The goal was to increase the quality of care by addressing inefficiencies in the organization of systems to support patient care, improving attention to the needs of populations served by health programs, and furthering the development of the health workforce.

As a subcontractor to University Research Co., Initiatives provided technical leadership in the area of human resources management and workforce development. Our contributions to the project included comprehensive studies of the human resources implications of HIV/AIDS services scale-up in Zambia and Rwanda, as well as a pilot study of financial and non-financial performance-based incentives for health workers in two districts in Zambia.

URC and Initiatives were awarded the QAP follow-on, Health Care Improvement Project, in 2008.
