USAID Tuberculosis Technical Assistance and Support Contract
The TB TASC2 contract mechanism allows USAID missions to access technical assistance and programmatic support, among other areas, on all aspects of adapting WHO-recommended Directly Observed Treatment, Short Course (DOTS) strategy in different settings. Initiatives is a subcontractor to PATH, one of three prime contractors under TB TASC2.
In 2005, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) requested a study to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of USAID-funded programs to train tuberculosis (TB) consultants and to make recommendations for future training. As subcontractor to PATH, Initiatives evaluated the training methodology and strategy of the TB consultant training program, including reviewing documents from the training programs, assessing adherence to the Guidelines on preparing a personal training plan for future TB Consultants, and interviewing participants, trainers, mentors, and course designers.
